On November 9, 2019, as Zerafa and Dwight Ritchie were exchanging blows, Ritchie passed out after a chest blow. Ritchie passed away after being unable to be revived.
Zerafa defeated Isaac Hardman in the second round of their IBF title eliminator on April 20, 2022, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
