In 1981, Cusack started working for the Irish weather service Met Éireann. From 1988 to 2018, she was a weather presenter for RTÉ.
Cusack and other well-known meteorologists who presented the weather for RTÉ in 1999, including Gerald Fleming, were temporarily fired in favor of younger, less experienced presenters.
However, Cusack and her coworkers were quickly re-hired in response to audience complaints.
2014 saw the first UCD Alumni Award in Science presented to Cusack. She was appointed Head of Forecasting at Met Éireann in March 2018. After 42 years of service, she left Met Éireann on June 1st, 2023.
She took part in the 2008 season of the RTÉ reality series Fáilte Towers. In order to raise money for their chosen charity, thirteen celebrities ran a hotel for sixteen days and nights as part of the reality show. Cusack was the fifth person to go.
On the Late Late Toy Show in 2015, she met little Johnny O’Loughlin, who had created a unique weather board game for her.
