Newling rose to stardom on Australia’s The Bachelorette in 2018, when he was at the time called “Mr Perfect” by viewers. He had his daughter with partner Kristal Taylor in July of this year after leaving the program. In addition, Newling has a son, age 13, from a previous relationship.
Over the years, the troubled celebrity made headlines a few times. Viewers alleged that he was domineering toward Oetjen during his time on the program and that he would not introduce her to his family until they were an ‘exclusive’ pair.
Soon after being fired from the program, he was seen being wrestled to the ground at a Sydney bar. Charlie said that when the altercation with the bouncers began late at night, he was drinking and partying with pals. He didn’t inform anyone on the program that he had a son from an earlier relationship, it was subsequently discovered.
In September 2022, he threatened to kill and torture his stepfather and was given a 13-month prison term. 37 texts containing threats were exchanged during a three-hour period.
Prior to being sentenced, the reality star spent a month in detention. He was then told to serve his time in the community.
